Giving something back is very important to us at Engage.

This year, we are entering two relay teams into the 2016 Belfast Marathon in memory of 13 year old Oisín McGrath from Belcoo, who lost his life tragically in February 2015. Oisin died from a fatal brain injury caused by a blow to his head while at St Michael's College in Enniskillen.

Oisín's uncle Adrian is a valued member of the Engage team and this charity is extremely close to his heart. This has motivated our team to train even harder, run even faster and raise even more money for such a worthy cause!

The Oisín McGrath Foundation is inspired by Oisín’s life and was formed both to keep his spirit alive and to inspire others through his memory.

The three strands of the foundation are:

  1. Organ Donation Awareness
  2. Brain Injury Research and Awareness
  3. Local Youth Sports Development

Oisín’s family made the decision to donate his organs, which helped save five lives and the foundation now aims to promote organ donation and raise funds for brain injury research while helping develop sporting programmes for young people.

To date, numerous events have had great success, some organised by the Foundation and many more by friends, family and the wider community.

The Belfast Marathon which takes place on Monday 2nd May, promises to be a fun-filled event for all. We encourage as many people as possible to make a small contribution to our JustGiving page and join us in lending our support to such a fantastic cause!
