Who can resist the combination of cake, coffee and donating to a good cause?
As October is breast cancer awareness month, we took part in Action Cancer’s Paint the Town Pink Campaign in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness and hosted a Coffee Morning in the office. We got our best Mary Berry on and baked cakes and buns for the event and invited neighbouring businesses along to join in the fun and donate to such a fantastic cause.
With a target of £160 which would provide two free beast screenings, we created a Just Giving Page to encourage people to donate online as well.
An internal departmental bake off meant that we had four delicious show stoppers taking pride of place at the Coffee Morning and gave everyone plenty to taste and talk about. We brought the competition online so that even if you couldn’t taste the cakes, you could still cast your vote.
Co-Operation Ireland, Endeavour, Photonic and United Paper Merchants were some of the local companies who took part in our event. Others bought cakes and buns afterwards as we rallied round the business park to sell as much as possible.
As the day continued, notifications from Facebook and Twitter and our Just Giving Page came in thick and fast. We tallied up the votes at the end of the day and crowned our Design Team as the Bake Off winners. (Their cake was delicious.)
With a total of £400 raised, Engage as promised, matched this and we were delighted to be able to donate £800 to Action Cancer which will provide 10 free breast screenings to local women across Northern Ireland.
We would like to thank all who donated and made the event so successful!
