Standing Out In A Crowded Market

MSC Group realised that if a job seeker is visiting their site, they are also visiting at least five other sites.  So it was time to be different and redevelop the existing web presence.

Where to start.

We recognised that job seekers fall into many different categories, from passive to active, from highly experienced to trainees. In addition, the opportunity to impress employers visiting the site, was vital.

We worked with MCS to carry out:

  • Competitor analysis – what could we do better, what barriers could we remove?
  • Persona identification – who uses the site & what motivates them 
  • Wireframes & information mapping to ensure visitors have a smooth experience
  • Umbraco CMS was selected with the MCS recruitment career management system (Idibu) to allow seamless job updating on the site

What happened next?

The site was designed with mobile visitors in mind. People with less time to and even less attention span (when it comes to recruitment).

Email marketing has always been a big part of recruitment. But it’s personalisation that can really help MSC attract the right candidates, understanding candidate’s motivation to move. We worked on a number of email marketing activities around customer integration points such as mailing list registration, apply for a job and notifications when your preferred job is listed online.

Things got better:

  • Unique visits increased by 69%
  • Visitor engagement has increased by 23.97%
  • Mobile traffic has increased by 30.89%
  • Bounce rate has decreased by 18.25%.

Now when jobseekers visit multiple recruitment sites, they may just remember the one where they had the best experience, and come back.
