Mobile Development Project of the Year.

That’s what happened when we worked with The Irish Greyhound Board – Bord na gCon

The Challenge

The Irish Greyhound Board were faced with competition from everywhere; TV, the internet, other types of racing and sports betting, we needed to engage the customer in the thrill and excitement of greyhound racing, no matter what device they were using, in order to keep them coming back for more.

"It’s simple: Bringing an engaging experience to people who aren’t at a live event, means more customers and more interest in future events."

What we did - creating the app

Live streaming of races and multi-device betting were just two of the elements identified as customer opportunities. We created The Irish Greyhound Board (IGB) Racing App - Barking Buzz. The design is flexible across iPhone, IPad, Ios and Android services.

We used Data Tote API to feed data for race meetings and results information giving the greyhound racing fans access to all the information they needed.

Users can securely register, get promo codes and manage their accounts. We took unprecedented steps with the following features;

  • Viewing Upcoming Races
  • Place real time bets - Singles (Win, Place, Win/Place) / Exotic (Forecast, Trio, Jackpot, Intertrack Jackpot)
  • View Results
  • View all 17 Greyhound Stadia in Ireland (and supporting information)
  • View Talking Dogs news articles
  • View Betting History, Account History
  • User Account Management (Update User Details, Change Password, Reset Password).
  • Deposit/Withdraw Funds
  • Location Based Push Notifications
  • Watch Live Streaming of Races

What happened next?

Barking Buzz is the only app that allows betting and streaming of real-time racing in Ireland. IGB can reach new customers wherever they are, with unique, tailored content.

The app was downloaded 1850 times in just two months, increasing revenue by 54%. We bet (responsibly) that even if you’ve never been interested in greyhound racing, you might be interested in having a look at the app!
